General Lecture of Dr. Mohammed Obaidullah

Past Wednesday, February 03, 2010, Islamic Economics and Finance Trisakti University presented general lecture by the theme "Islamic Microfinance Setting : An Agenda For Research “ and Dr. Mohammed Obaidullah was a speaker. Dr. Mohammed Obaidullah (1961-born in India ),  is an Economist at the Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB). Prior to joining IRTI in November 2006, he served the Islamic Economics Research Center, King Abdulaziz University , Jeddah , Saudi Arabia and taught at the International Islamic University Malaysia as an Associate Professor. In 1999 he founded IBF Net: The Islamic Business and Finance Network and the International Institute of Islamic Business and Finance (IIIBF) in India . He currently serves the International Association for Islamic Economics (IAIE) as its Secretary General. He has authored three books and over thirty research papers. His areas of interest include: Islamic Finance, Security Markets, and Development Finance.

For further corporation, Dr. Mohammed Obaidullah and Prof. Dr. Sofyan Syafri Harahap had a deal collaboration agreement, between The Islamic Business and Finance Network and the International Institute of Islamic Business and Finance (IIIBF) and Trisakti University . The certification programs offered by IIIBF are recognized by Trisakti University , Indonesia under a mutual recognition arrangement that also allows the certified professionals to pursue MA and PhD in Islamic Economics Programs of Trisakti at IIIBF.

Islamic micro financing has being popular in the world, as well as everybody always talk about it, from the academician, practicing and another professionals institution who related with the banking and financial sector  both conventional system and shariah perspective. Islamic micro financing was already popular in the past, when Islam first came into the world, Islamic micro financing was also came to it. Today, everybody talk and discuss about Islamic micro financing, it's becoming popular caused of the global financial crisis. the crisis of the global market of financial sector that was caused of the mainframe was macro financing. they were comfort in gharar zone, it was not good so the crisis was come to us. they forgot the basic of economics is the real sector of micro financing.
