“Economic & Trade Integration among OIC Member Countries: Opportunities and Challenges"

The Institute for Trade Studies and Research (affiliated to the Ministry of Commerce of Islamic Republic of Iran) has launched the second international conference on “Economic & Trade Integration among OIC Member Countries: Opportunities and Challenges”. The conference will be held on 21-22 November 2010 in Tehran. All interested researchers around the world are warmly invited to participate. The authors of accepted papers will benefit from financial supports for their accommodation expenses (For more details, please, read the related procedure below). The papers may be submitted and presented in English or Persian. However, Persian speakers should prepare their slides in English. Papers submitted to this conference must not have been accepted or presented (in any form) elsewhere. All relevant topics are welcome, in particular, on the below areas.

Topics

1.    Recent world economic and financial crisis: What are the impacts and lessons for Islamic economies? What are relevant policies to make?
2.    Existing Islamic economic and trade arrangements (ECO, D8, PGCC, ESCWA, …): current impacts, potentials and barriers
3.     Perspectives for deepening trade integration among OIC members: an Islamic Free Trade Area, or an Islamic Common Market?
4.    Regional or bilateral economic cooperation among Islamic countries, especially, in banking, insurance, tourism, transportation, transit, and technical services
5.    Trade in Halal food products: prospects and potentials for its expansion
6.    The role of the Islamic Development Bank in economic development and integration of Islamic countries
7.    Financial and investment cooperation among Islamic countries: the role of international arrangements as well as micro credit and finance

Financial supports for speakers

All accepted papers for presentation will benefit from financial support for the accommodation expenses of the speaker. This support covers three-night stay in a hotel in Tehran (reserved by ITSR) including breakfast and lunch. In addition, all speakers arriving on 20 November 2010 (one day before the conference-days) will also benefit from free airport-transfer to the hotel.

How to submit an abstract

Please, use the email address of the conference (etic@itsr.ir) in order to submit your abstract to the secretary of the conference. Any submitted abstract must contain between 200 and 300 words. It should also be prepared using 12-point Times New Roman, and 1.5 line space. The name, title, and affiliation of the authors should be noted just after the title of the paper while the contact information of the speaker (including an email address) should be left as a footnote. The procedure for the full paper submission will be later informed to successful authors (via the site of the conference and their email addresses).
